Bruce Vandervalk was born in Australia in 1935. He earned a Diploma in Theology at Melbourne Bible Institute,
before coming to the U.S. in 1964. After a year at Moody Bible Institute, he studied voice and composition at the
American Conservatory of Music, earning bachelor degrees in both. Then he earned a master's degree in composition
at Northwestern University. In 1975 he moved to Westlake Village in Southern California. He has served as Music
Director in a number of area churches while becoming involved as arranger and composer for some Christian recordings
and short films. He was librarian and consultant for Dragon Music Company, a rental source for the
orchestrations of the late Carmen Dragon.
