Composer JOACHIM SCHMEISSERBorn in 1934, Joachim Schmeißer studied flute and arranging at the Musikhochschule in Leipzig. He was a member of dance orchestras in Güstrow and Brandenburg, and from 1958-1993 was flutist in the Radio Berlin Dance Orchestra.
He has made many arrangements, especially of old folksongs. He has written light music for entertainment, dance music, lieder and chansons, music for radio plays and films, chamber music, and a musical comedy, Die Lästerschule (1985).
Since 1990 he has taught instrumentation and arranging at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin.
