CHORAL MUSIC BY ANDRÉS MIGUEL JAN

7 Christmas Motets

Patagonia (Argentinia) is the source of these beautiful motets for the Octave of Christmas, three of which can be sung with an orchestral ensemble typical of Latin America: 2 trumpets, 2 flutes, oboe, and strings, with optional organ(s). In neo-baroque style, the motets are of medium difficulty and should be very accessible by good church choirs as well as by concert ensembles. The use of antiphonal and split choirs provides a variety of performance possibilities suitable for festive occasions. Traditional Latin liturgical texts.

Resonet in laudibus, cum iucundis plausibus:

Sunt impleta quĉ predixit Gabriel, eia,
Virgo Deum genuit quod divina voluit clementia.
Hodie apparuit in Israel. Ex Maria Virgine est natus Rex.
Let it resound with praises, with joyful acclaim:
To the faithful in Zion the one whom Mary bore has appeared.
What Gabriel foretold has been fulfilled, O wonder!
A virgin gave birth to God, as he wished in his divine mercy.
Today he appeared in Israel. By the Virgin Mary a King has been born.
