See sample pages. A prayer for peace with Portuguese and Latin (or English and Latin) text taken from the medieval antiphon. It employs a Recitativo which can be sung in English, Portuguese, or Spanish. Simple and powerful. Approx. performance duration: 2'28". Difficulty level 2+. Listen to an mp3 extract from a recording made by choirs of Napa Valley, California in 2002. Originally written for women's choir for the dedication of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Curitiba, Brazil (1953), the work was later arranged for mixed choir (1984) and revised again for this 2005 edition.

CQ2514     Aleluia, Paz na Terra (Alleluia, Pax in Terra),  for mixed choir (SATB), a cappella, 6 pp., $1.65.

This work was commissioned in 1982 for youth choirs at the 8th National Congress of Choirs in Rio de Janeiro. The very easy and repetitive text — a prayer for peace on earth — can be sung in either Portuguese or Latin.

CQ2515     In Vino Veritas,  a choral suite in four movements for mixed choir (SATB) and tenor soloist, a cappella, 18 pp., $2.65.
See sample pages.The work celebrates the ancient saying, "Bonum vinum cor laetificat" (a good wine gladdens the heart), and the four movements feature four of the composer's favorite wines. Written in 2000, the work celebrated 50 years of composing by Curitiba. Approximate duration: 9'0". Difficulty level 3+. CQ2606     An American Triptych (Triptico Americano), for mixed choir (SATB) a cappella, 22 pp., $2.95.
English text. Total duration, about 8'40". Degree of difficulty, 3. Three songs in one octavo (not available separately): Three picturesque scenes from American life, arranged in the form of a Choral Sinfonietta. See sample pages. See lyrics. These arrangements of classic American folk songs attest to the influence such songs have had on many composers in other countries, including Curitiba. He writes: "My generation was strongly influenced by American movies, by their writers -- published in 'pocket-books -- by the LP, by the TV, significantly enriching our cultural life. We also became acquainted with the various genres of USA music and its great performers. I had the idea of using folk melodies that brought me images of some peculiar scenes of American life : a square dance in a barn, the loneliness of a cowboy on a mid-west prairie, the drama of a woman who sees her man returning crippled from the Civil War. I arranged these pictures in an allegro-andante-presto pattern . This is how the Triptych was born."
